One Way to Make Grant Writing Effortless

I had a great meeting with a new client this week.

Two non-profit organizations were collaborating on an event for the community. They asked me to help write the grant application.

Having worked heavily with one of the organizations in the past I was confident that the meeting would go well.

At the same time, I recognized that everyone was volunteering to be part of this project. So, I wasn’t sure how invested everyone would be. I was pleasantly surprised.

Prior to the meeting, I investigated the grant and listened to the webinar outlining all the specifics. I sent them detailed information so they would know the scope of the grant and to ensure it was a good fit. I was also hoping they would come to the meeting prepared. They did.

Four people attended from each organization, each with assigned roles.

They had already started pre-planning the project months ago. The project’s scope, outcomes and details were determined. The grant was an easy, natural fit.

We did spitball some ideas and iron out a few more details as we went through each question. But the process was seamless. The work had been done long in advance. I just had to write it down.

With only 10 days to pull this together, it was possible. All it took was a little pre-planning.

Thinking forward, what project you can pre-plan so it is grant-ready?

Best wishes, Lauren
